CTPCI before Christmas
Link: CTPCI
Rodolphe Czuba is planning to send CTPCI before Christmas! And still have last few boards for selling.
The CTPCI is expansion card for your Atari Falcon that brings you at last the PCI connectors to your Falcon CT60/63 to use the graphical cards RADEON 7000/7500/9200, and some other cards like Ethernet, USB, S-ATA, Audio, etc... With CTPCI + Radeon couple, you can use all LCD monitors with a great working area in some screen resolutions like 1920*1200 (wide / HDTV is 1920*1080), 1600*1200 or 1280*1024 in 16 Millions, 65K or 256 colors by example... The CTPCI gives you a second IDE faster port to connect up to 4 IDE devices on your Falcon (2*HDD + CDROM + CompatFlash reader by example).

Vbcc 0.9a released
As MiKRO wrote on atari.org:
Hi everybody, New version of popular (mainly in Amiga world, slowly in Atari world :) ANSI C/C99 compiler is available. Short list of changes: - Using vasm 1.4b and vlink 0.12f with many improvements and bug fixes. - The compiler itself is for the first time compiled with optimization enabled. So it is a little bit faster and smaller. - Included vbccm68ks (16 bit integer) in distribution, which is required for the Atari TOS target. - The 68k config files aos68k, tos and mint do no longer have to set optimization options. The OPT directive is completely supported by vasmm68k_mot since 1.3d. - M68k code generator: Fixed many ColdFire bugs. But the ColdFire support is still far from being perfect. - M68k code generator: Fixed \"target error: illegal use of registers\", which could be caused by case statements, since V0.9, and during jumptable generation. - M68k code generator: Generated illegal data constants when -const-in-data and -sd were specified together. - M68k code generator: Fixed a crash, which could occur with constant pointers (e.g. *(int *)0x1234=x) in certain situations. - M68k code generator: Calling a constant address no longer leads to an internal error. - M68k code generator: Fixed a wrong condition code test when converting to smaller integral types. - vclib: strtod() fixed: the endptr (when given) was incorrect. - vclib: ctype.h was wrong for all 68k targets (toupper()/tolower() inlines didn\'t work). - vasmm68k: Got a noticeable performance improvement on parsing the input source by a factor between 3 and 30. - vasmm68k: M68k cpu settings were lost when assembling a source vbcc generated with -g option. - vasmm68k: Wrong M68k optimization of move.w #0,An into suba.w An,An left garbage in the MSW. - vlink: Erroneously prefered a symbol from a library over a symbol with the same name from the referencing object module. - vlink: Fixed problem with merging common symbols from serveral modules. - many smaller bugfixes vbcc is both native (TOS and FreeMiNT) and cross (nearly any host) C compiler emerged from Amiga world and successfully tested on some Atari projects as well (most notably my Starstruck demo port :)

MPlayer 3.20
Guillaume Tello released new version of M_Player. He wrote:
Finally, I managed to make M_Player run under Aranym. The "dirt" programming is back! I plan to improve two importants points: - the disassembling of an animation (to TGA and sound) - the creation of an animation (the BATCH file is a bit hard for most users, I try to make a clearer interface) - the direct conversion only works under TOS with a very ... personal system (M_PLAYER calls a second M_PLAYER!) Well, for those of you who made long time ago some sequences with CyberPaint (*.SEQ, *.DLT) with Lexicor (*.FLM) or digitized videos with Video Master (*.FLM) this is the chance to view them again if you don't own your original Atari anymore. And with the disassembling and creating functions, you should be able to convert them to a more modern format such as AVI or MOV.

SuperVidel - prototype
Link:
Nature
The SuperVidel will be graphics card for Atari Falcon with CT60 (it will be 100% hardware register compatible with the old Videl and it will snoop all accesses to the old Videl).
Features: - The SuperVidel is a CT60 expansion board, sitting on the internal CT60 expansion connector. - DVI-I connector: support for both digital and analog output using a splitter cable. This means the SuperVidel supports output to two screens at the same time. - Features all the colour depths and resolutions of the old Videl chip, from mono to 16-bit, by functioning exactly as the old Videl on the hardware register level - Adds a 24-bit (16,777,216 colors) color depth as a 4 byte RGBA mode. - Adds an 8-bit chunky mode. - Ability to generate a resolution of up to 1600x1200 at 75Hz even in the 24-bit color depth. Pixel clock supports the old 25.175MHz and 32MHz settings. We will extend the pixel clock frequency settings to achieve 50 up to 225 MHz at steps of 25MHz. At 225MHz 1600x1200@75Hz is possible. - Onboard 128MB 32bit wide DDR2 memory at 333MHz, yielding a theoretical bandwidth of 1350MB/s. A resolution of 1600x1200@75Hz 24bit RGBA (4-byte) requires 576MB/s, so there should be plenty of bandwidth left for play. - An integrated Super Blitter, but not necessarily compatible with the old Blitter, because it was rarely used on the falcon anyway. - MPEG2-support. - Hardware 3D support in the form of a polygon texture mapper. This requires lots of space in the FPGA though. This feature is not included in the first release of the SuperVidel, to save time, but the board is easily upgraded later in the same way as you upgrade your CT60.

CT63 - 8th & last batch
Link: CT63 homepage
As Rodolphe Czuba wrote on comp.sys.atari.st:
Hello, Happy new Year 2009 to all atarians. A new batch of 20 CT63 may be produced this month and shipping planned for March (no delay this time). I need 20 buyers and I have 14. It is the really last batch because of new projects after (CTPCI and an other ) and the factory difficulty to solder correctly all parts (I had 7 boards to repair on the previous batch ! ) because of the lost of the solder mask inox (too expensive to produce again) when the previous factory closed. You last chance to get a CT63 on your Falcon. Price stills 320 EUR.

UltraSatan - ACSI to SD/SDHC/MMC interface
UltraSatan is a hard disk replacement for Atari ST and other Atari's with ACSI port. It uses SD/SDHC or MMC cards as a storage, which are hot-pluggable.
Specs: - why? for the same reasons as 'Why SatanDisk?' (MMC and SD cards are cheap and noise-less, etc.) - it has 2 slots for SD/MMC cards, so replaces 2 SatanDisks attached to 1 computer - the SD/MMC cards are hot-pluggable, i.e. you don't need to power off and on the UltraSatan when you change the card - has a battery backed up RTC chip - up to 4 different firmwares can be uploaded from ST without a need for any additional HW (no flash programmer needed for update) - it has 1 base (non overwritable) firmware, so even if you screw up the FW update, the device won't become unusable - it's faster than SatanDisk

New C/Assembler kit ported to Atari
As MiKRO wrote on dhs.nu:
Hi everybody, I'm more than happy to announce the end of our effort to port vbcc/vasm/vlink tools to the TOS platform. Thanks to dedicated work of Frank Wille we've got: - modern & superb assembler with nearly all devpac directives, i.e. you can finally use your fave assembler under any modern multitasking OS (i.e. FreeMiNT) - linker with many input and output formats - fully compliant ANSI C99 compiler that produces hell of optimized code The whole toolchain was heavily tested on one big project, i.e. we killed quite a many bugs so you should get very well tested product. As suggested, this toolchain is aimed to be replacement for bloated gcc/gas/ld toolchain which is quite unusable on anything but aranym/ct60. vbcc is lightweight package that runs fine on 4 MB machines, even without FreeMiNT (i.e. under plain TOS!) Primarily, it's focused to run under FreeMiNT, so I post here little tutorial for the first hello world, in case you're interested in making setup for commandline compiler/assebler under single TOS, feel free to contact me. So, the easiest way to compile "Hello World" under FreeMiNT: 1. go to the website (http://sun.hasenbraten.de/vbcc) 2. download vbcc_bin_mint.tar.gz and vbcc_target_m68k-atarimint.zip 3. directories "bin" and "config" from vbcc_bin_mint.tar.gz copy into /usr/local/vbcc 4. create environment variable called "VBCC" with the value of "/usr/local/vbcc" 5. directory "targets" from vbcc_target_m68k-atarimint.zip copy into /usr/local/vbcc 6. tweak access rights for /usr/local/vbcc/targets/m68k-atarimint/include/* and /usr/local/vbcc/targets/m68k-atarimint/lib/* with "chmod +r+w" type "vc -o hello hello.c" and you should get Atari ST compatible binary! Please refer to the manual of vasm/vbcc/vlink for advanced usage. You can contact me (see my website) for Atari specific things or Frank in case you fall into some trouble. What? Did I hear you don't need new C compiler since you're happy with your gcc/g++ but still like the idea of having new assembler? Well, no problem! vasm is able to produce fully compliant a.out mint object files, so you can link vasm output with gcc, yeah! Beat this with devpac! What again? Maybe you would use the vbcc but the gcc offers cross compilation possibility? Well, vbcc as well! You can produce amiga, elf, atari etc binaries on amiga, linux, freemint, windows etc based machines! No complicated configuration, just run "make TARGET=xxx" on any machine you want! Hope you'll enjoy it, I was looking for some decent devpac replacement for years and now I got it!

KK Commander 1.4
News in this Total Commander mock-up:
- less memory usage (when long list of file to transfer) - ZIP archive files support (PKZIP). STORE and DEFLATE methods only. The zip file is opened as it was a folder. Carefull when adding a file, if same name, the old one will be deleted. When deleting, zip file is copied into a temp (.zmp) to take only the wanted zipentries. So you should have a hard disk drive. DEFLATE archiving and INFLATE extraction are managed by a LDG library called deflate.ldg (zlib port, see the KKcmd sources), so install the LDG system. What you need is in the GOODIES folder of KKcmd. CAREFULL: DEFLATE compression is not yet reliable. Seems to work okay. Winzip, Macoxs, unzip (from zlib) inflate well, but STZIP fails very very badly. So if you have to make public releases, keep using STZIP (carefull also there, STZIP corrupts zip files when modifications/deletes). Or tell explicitly to use KKcmd. INFLATE seems to work well. Generally speaking, perform some tests with KKcmd before giving important files (ie test with winzip, macosx unzippers, zlib, infoZip...). One more remark: in Options, misc, unselect free disk space verification under MiNT or Aranym or MagiCMac. If there's too much space, the function returns false.

CTPCI: Design is finished
Link: Czuba-tech - CTPCI
It is a small card that plugs on the CT60/63 expand slot and uses a LOCAL-PCI bridge, the PLX 9054. This last generation PCI bridge is the successor of the well known PLX9080 that is used on the Milan motherboard. It is register backward compatible...
Features: - PCI BIOS & ATI RADEON driver incorporated in the CT60/63 Flash : the boot screen is directed on the Radeon graphical card! - 4 PCI slots 3.3V/5V & 33 MHz. - The adaptor allows slave and master PCI to local transfers : this means that the PCI cards will be able to initiate a PCI master transaction to local bus and so SDRAM of the CT60 without CPU (the eclipse board is just slave, no PCI mastering and the CPU does all transfers in the 2 senses !). Two DMA channels are available to ensure CPU free transfers. - Compatible with CT60/63 from 66 to 105 MHz (to be tested and confirmed). - EtherNAT board compatible (to be tested and confirmed for highest frequencies). - Falcon case compatible (PLX board, not PCI board although all is possible...) - PCI slots PCB is cuttable between the first and second PCI slot (to have a single PCI slot card) to allow some of you to try to integrate a small graphical card into their falcon case...(why not).

REminiscence-0.1.9 Atari Falcon030 port
Reminiscence is an interpreter that enables playing Delphine Software Flashback on Atari Falcon030 home computer. To play a game you need original Flashback data files from PC version (not included due to legal reasons). Optionally you can install module pack from Amiga version for digital music and american version SegaCD speech files (new feature in 0.1.9 - some ingame dialogs are spoken, but not the ingame cutscenes, so don't report it as a bug).
Additionaly I've added support for Atari jagpad controllers, introduced some improvements from PSP/GP2X ports by Rlyeh and Sektor, added functionality to make TGA screenshots and removed all debug info from release build. Somekind of accelerator board (bus and/or CPU is strongly recommended). Under MiNT disable all software screen expanders, this version doesn't work with Aranym.

As MiKRO/MSB wrote:
Hi everyone, after some experiments with 8-bit coding (I failed, I wasn't able to code one simple slideshow :-) I'm back in Falcon coding. I was thinking about making some update to Silkcut because there was awful bug in the 1.01 version -- fading routine was totally messed up which results in incorrect display of TBL logos + affects framerate as well. So this update fixes it plus adds: - VGA 60 Hz support (I really hope no one will have problems with LCDs anymore) - color greetings! (Kalms and me decided it doesn't look *that* bad, esp. on TV) - special version of greetings for 60 Hz (thanks, Kalms!) - much nicer tunnel sequence On the other side, there's some hidden bug (in my port, in the original demo, in the universe, ... :-) which means that tunnel looks either fantastic or jerky. In in week I wasn't able to catch it, I give up, sorry folks. It's just a port after all... It seems the best chances to see perfect effect you have on 66 MHz machine, it's kind of sync problem, that's all I can say about it... P.S. I'd like to ask -- how many of you had problems with that 50 Hz version? I ask because Ocean Machine is much, much more knitted to 50 Hz than Silkcut and citing Kalms: "fixing" that will be a bitch :-)

SuperVidel prototype PCB...

CT60 board at dhs.nu
SuperVidel prototype PCB is getting close to completion. As we can read at Nature pages:
Now we consider the PCB of the SuperVidel to be around 85% complete. Note that this percentage does not include the VHDL code that will control the behaviour of the FPGA, but when the board layout is finished we may finally order the prototypes to be manufactured, and then it will not be easy to stop us from developing all the cool stuff like the SuperBlitter, MPEG-support and 3D-support. :) The SuperVidel will be graphics card for Atari Falcon with CT60 (it will be 100% hardware register compatible with the old Videl and it will snoop all accesses to the old Videl).

SuperVidel news
Link: Nature homepage
As Hencox writes at dhs.nu: The SuperVidel is definitely not dead. :)
The SuperVidel will be 100% hardware register compatible with the old Videl and it will snoop all accesses to the old Videl. This means that old unmodified games, demos and applications will run as before on the SV but you will get the output through the new DVI-I port (digital + analog). There will be no speed increase though until the games/demos are modified to use the DDR2 graphics RAM. This is a small patch. Of course we'll also have to add new hardware registers for all the new functions. Development of the SuperVidel is progressing. Now I get some help with the PCB from my brother Torbjörn. Earlier we had the job split up so that I do the PCB and he does the VHDL code for the FPGA with some help from me. The schematics design is nearly complete and I've begun looking at the layout. I don't have to do it all from scratch since I've already done the layout to almost completion a couple of times before... The current specs of the SuperVidel are: - 128MB 32bit-wide DDR2 "333Mhz" yielding 1350MB/s internally on the SuperVidel. Accessing the graphics RAM from the CT60 is limited by the speed of the CT60 bus and will probably reach 100MB/s or slightly above. Still, that’s a lot better than the 5.5MB/s you get from the old STRAM today. :) - One full DVI (DVI-I) connector, i.e. both digital and analog output. - Dual screen output, one via the digital signals and the other through the analog, thanks to dual internal pixel decode pipelines. This means you may at the same time display two different screens (for example a stretched GEM desktop) or the same screen on both monitors. - All the old resolutions are supported (because the SV is Videl compatible…) and the upper limit will be around 1600 x 1200 x 24bit x 75Hz.

CTPCI news
Link: Czuba-tech - CTPCI
On Google groups we can see this (with Babelfish translator) :
I am quite conscious that my times become immense and that I do not give a news.... Each WE that I return, I think that I will update the site and each time I set out again into 4 the ieme speed of at home with flock.... (I miss the week).... I thus took certain resolutions... - I bought elements of PC (240 Euro of expenses) to mount a PC of race with the pieces that Thierry had spun me (super good the caseThierry)... This PC will be brought into service this week in my studio and I install there the signal of the signal as regards electronic CAD.... Then it will occur many hours to take again in hand it software, but once that it is maitrisé, it is very powerful and one can make a car routing partial or total of the chart without breaking the bottom as with EAGLE... which is prehistory compared with it software (MENTOR GRAPHICS for those which know). This known as I advance on the CTPCI.... yesterday in the train I controllé it pine out of the PLX9054 with an aim of placing it in best the position on the chart compared to exit NCV and the buses Dated and Add from connector of the CT60. This well on in order to simplifying the routing and especially to allow me locker pines of the CPLD in best positions on the CPLD, there too to simplify the routing... Well on the CPLD is finished... donc the most intellectual part is finished one can say... oh, there A will be surely debuguage but nothing with to see with that of ABE or SDR on the CT60... besides when I throw an eye with the sources as of the these 2 chips I think that I had made very extremely....;-) I do not know so today I would still manage to do one similar trick considering the little of time qua I have.... Y has 5 years when I coded and debuguais the ABE and SDR I worked far also of at home, but the wages and conversion monètaire of my wages towards the euro made that I did not need to make hours sup... donc I had complete evenings.... This year, I am obliged to thus work 55h/sem when I return I have with all to break 1 hour of free, when I still have forces.... this job is also more physical... What goes can be to change very soon (and one hopes well extremely) it is that my partner will find job and thus I will be able to cease the hours sup... donc more time for the CTPCI... Veiled... and I have 10 more CTPCI to finish and to dispatch because I miss it generator of untraceable clock on the planête or at a price of insane... I besides will regulate this prob this we.... I also made 1 or 2 sketches of the archi of the CPLD of the CTPCI, and it is necessary that I place them on the site.

Radeon driver - latest news
Link: ctpci.atari.org
Latest news about Radeon driver, as Didier wrote: Hello and good year with all, Having made the turn of the VDI (difficult to go more quickly: -) ), I have it returned completely compatible TOS all the same while adding lately the acceleration of functions VDI ESC, rather than to leave in the addition 3d which is not really my cup of tea (but I do not leave to fall), I decided to set out again with the adventure on a strategy more justifying: I integrated acceleration VIDIX in the TOS with a 15aines of functions XBIOS in 400, I recompilMplayer with but I do not have yet tested (has to see whether it is still usable with SDL). For those which bill of lading not that mainly makes it possible to leave of a video source (of the souvant YUV) of the zoomer or to reduce to the size target which one wants on the screen with an intermediate filtering. It is interressant for full screen with the resolution of origin. Unfortunately although that is envisaged at the origin in the project, it does not have there decoding MPEG hardware for the charts suggested (ATI or not). I also hope to manage VIDIX in Aniplayer. But it is not finished, at the same time I add a interressante part that I will be able to test on Sapphire Radeon 7500 All In Wonder and its "Success 200". This chip is connected to the principal chip by a bus dedicated, for those which do not know, it is him which ge the tuner, it its and video entries. It is again enough to integrate a part of Xfree driver (I it have da used one year ago to have acceleration, the base framebuffer of the kernel linux not having large thing). The goal being short-term to write an exploiting software this new part of the driver (still of new functions XBIOS). In any way considering it it CTPCI is not yet available; -), I have still time to pass let us say 2 months it above. That should avoid me to mislay me in what does not function on Coldfire... I point out that my adventures are here: http://ctpci.atari.org Didier.
